advice for new owners

To find out more information on alpacas for sale, please contact member farms individually. Alternatively send an email to info@alpaca.ie and we will circulate and hopefully put you in contact with someone that can help you.  There is now a FB group called Alpaca Sales Ireland that may help. This is not an AAI endorsed page, just a place for seller and buyer to contact each other

Buying AAI animals

Buyers of alpacas must ensure that they buy registered alpacas if they plan on breeding  and registering  cria. If buying pregnant dams, your seller should provide you with a “Stud Service “certificate” for your records. At the moment all AAI sires appear for members to search when registering, but this may not be the case in the future

If you want to show your animal it must be registered with AAI. If you buy a registered animal, your seller will organise transfer of ownership into your name. You will then be sent a  certificate in your name.

Buying  non AAI animals

If you are buying from the UK (BAS registered animals) you need your seller to organise transfer of ownership to you on the BAS registry(free) When you have the cert showing the animal in your name, it can then be added to the AAI registry. (This is to ensure that animals don’t appear to have two owners on two different registries)
